The bodily effort of the participant must be controlled to offer a constant and measurable speed of exercise when evaluating physiological responses to exercise in a lab setting. The physical effort of the participant can be measured through the use of ergometers. This device is an exercise device that allows the concentration of exercise to be restricted or standardized and calculated.

A treadmill works using a motor-and-pulley structure which drives a large belt on which the participant or the user can either walk or run. This gave the treadmill its name – motor-driven treadmills. The length and width of the belt must hold the user’s body size and stride length. Treadmills offer several advantages, which somehow make them the mostly picked of the ergometers for reviews for most researchers and clinicians, specifically in the US. Treadmills simulate outdoor walking and running, and since both activities are natural activities for almost everyone, it would not be too hard for researchers and clinicians to adjust the incline and pace of the workout for review purposes. In addition, it would not also too difficult on the participants to adjust as the intensity and pace of the routine set by the researchers. If you are looking to buy a treadmill then make sure that you read some treadmill reviews before you make your purchase.
